Fire Prevention Tips

October is finally here and as we are slowly cooling down and moving into the fall season, we have a lot to look forward to. Fall is a season of relaxing and spending time with the ones you love and one of my favorite things about this season is being able to sit by the fire and spend time with my loved ones. However, having experienced a house fire when I was a child, fire does sometimes make me nervous so while I enjoy it, I also take precautions to keep our family safe. Here are a few tips that can help you do the same.

Fire Prevention tips:

· Never leave a fire unattended, such as a lit burner on the stove or a fire in the fireplace.

· Never put decorations or anything flammable near a flame. For example, I love decorating our mantle for fall but make sure you don’t have decorations hanging below the mantle while burning in the fireplace.

· Periodically trim any nearby trees or bushes that could easily catch on fire.

· Do NOT burn trash items such as bottles, plastic, etc. for kindling, when using a fireplace.

· Make sure you have your chimney cleaned and inspected before lighting your first fire of the season.

Whether your family is all about the fall activities and keeping busy this season or relaxing and enjoying the comforts of home, we hope you all have a great fall and enjoy some time with your family.
